Caroline was a former Holocaust Educator for the Imperial War Museum. The UK’s permanent national exhibition on the history of the Holocaust opened at Imperial War Museum, London in 2000. Caroline joined the exhibition’s first teaching team led by Paul Salmons, world renowned expert in Holocaust Education. With its innovative education service, classroom materials and professional development programmes, the Museum has become a major resource for teachers and students. The Holocaust Exhibition has been closed and will reopen in 2021 as the new Second World War and Holocaust Galleries.
Inspired by world renowned Holocaust educator, Paul Salmons, Caroline often used a child’s shoe as a ‘way in’ for students through a single artefact, which was recovered from the death camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
See how Paul uses the shoe to teach a challenging history here.
