As the Jewish Museum’s Head of Learning, Caroline Marcus developed a vision, five year strategy and business plan; led and managed the team; designed engaging creative programmes; created partnerships, networks and championed the museum; managed the budget; contributed to fundraising proposals and advised on the strategic development of the museum. She initiated the Museums and Schools programme, funded by the Department for Education (DfE) and managed by the Arts Council. The programme helped connect museums with local schoolchildren, targeting areas with high levels of deprivation and low cultural engagement. Highlights included sharing methodologies for a new Take One programme she devised for Jewish History Week at the Association of European Jewish Museums. She was proud to support her team in winning the Sandford Award for Heritage Education and being long-listed for the Daily Telegraph Family Friendly Museums Award.
